@alejo You are right. In the late 70s it was still routine in Australia for boys to be circumcised before leaving the hospital, unless parents objected. My mother was firmly against it, so I kept my foreskin, and growing up with one in my generation wasn't easy.
I finally got circumcised at 36. Since then my confidence has grown, sex is much better, and the hygiene benefits are undeniable. I do have a son, but his mother was also against it, so he missed out too. Back then I wasn’t circumcised myself, which made my arguments harder.
With my second wife it would have been clear: a boy would have been circumcised. Many friends of mine chose it for their sons, so in my circle it’s almost 50/50 now. More private clinics offer circumcisions today, and the rate has risen over the past decade.
